le joli pré and its surroundings
The interior of le joli pré
The kitchen area has a large table and modern appliances including: an electric cooker/oven, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher.
The open plan sitting room has traditional wood- burning stove, large flat screen TV, DVD and video player. There is a selection of DVD’s, videos and books for our guests to enjoy.
The Henry II double bedroom has views to the meadow, castle and 11th Century medieval church, ‘Notre Dame Sur L’Eau’ (Our Lady on the Water) just down the lane, where it is said Thomas Becket said Mass in 1166. The bathroom adjacent to the Henry II bedroom has WC, bath and shower.
The comfortable loft/studio space (le grenier) is full of light and glorious views.
Please note the house contains a second double bedroom. This is the only room reserved for the owners’ personal use and does not form part of le joli pré’s rental arrangement with its guests. The owners are not present during your stay.
The pretty meadow
The name of the house le joli pré - the pretty meadow - takes its inspiration from the meadow behind the house.
The meadow is planted with wild flowers and roses, plum, cherry and cider apple trees.
The wood pile is laden with oak and apple logs ready to stoke the ‘poêle à bois’ (wood-burning stove).
The meadow, an on-going labour-of-love, is maintained by a local gardener and designed and planted by Graham Swain, a professional garden designer: www.eartharchitecture.co.uk
Evenings spent watching the sun setting across the beautiful Normandy ‘Bocage’ landscape from the tranquil meadow, are moments to be treasured.
